In the news

As a follow up to yesterday's post about the fancy footwear, I was walking through the commons at lunch and decided to take a picture of the George Washington statue to post on here, and then a news reporter showed up and asked me my thoughts on the whole issue. I think its a crafty little way to promote walking. Some people are upset about changing the statues. But its not like its permanent, and its creative.
I watched the news last night to see if I made it on, but it wasn't on the 11 o'clock news. I figured it must have been on the earlier 5 o'clock news. So this morning I checked thebostonchannel.com and lo and behold, there was a story about the statues. I clicked on the link, and there was a video. And sure enough, I made it. Check out the video here and click on the "Kelley Tuthill Reports On Statues" video link.

Fancy footwear

As King and I strolled through the public garden last night we curiously noticed that George Washington's horse was wearing gold shoes. Upon closer inspection, we also noticed that George himself was sporting some purple leggings. Kind of odd, we figured it was just some prank. Then we came upon the ducks and they also had on colorful shoes that appeared to be made out of plaster. Hmmm, must be more than a prank. Luckily the Globe decided to answer my questions this morning with this article about all the fancy footwear going up on statues all over the city to promote walking around the city. Works for me!

I'm back!

After noticing its been a full month since my last post, I guess I must first appologize for the absence.
A couple factors have contributed to the hiatus:
The big move, and subsequent lack of internet access. Now that I have the wireless up and running, its not an issue (I do have access at work, but everyone knows I wouldn't abuse my work internet usage).
In addition to the move, I took yet another trip to Iowa for my grandpa's big 90th Birthday Bash! Happy Birthday Grandpa!
I have a ton of pictures that I need to get up here too. I promise I'll get them up one of these days...
I leave you with a nifty new website for your enjoyment...
