netflix

so I joined netflix this past week, and received my first 3 movies yesterday. I got Mean Girls, which I watched today and was pretty good. Tina Fey did a nice job writting a funny script. some of it was a bit cheesy high schoolish, but overall it was funny.
I also got Good Bye Lenin!, which i really liked. I have yet to watch Amores Perros, but look forward to the Mexican film.
I wish I had my camera with me today when I visited the new Jordan's Furniture store in Reading. Man what a sight! not only a furniture store, it also has an IMAX movie screen, a restaurant, a trapeze school for kids, a Bose store (very cool) and carnival games. quite a spectacle...

mmmm turkey!

ok ok, so i've been slackin a bit on the blog lately. so sorry.

Can't wait for turkey day tomorrow! we are hosting a few friends, so its gonna be a busy day in the kitchen. should be well worth it though.
along with the usual (turkey, mashed potatoes, etc...) i'm gonna make some yummy marshmallow yams. i vaguely knew that yams and sweet potatoes were different, but the label on the can says "Candied Sweet Potatoes Sauced Yam Cuts." so i was a bit confused, and a little discussion with Kristen led me to google the great yams vs. sweet potatoes debate, and here's the verdict. Who knew that a Yam is a Monocotyledon and a Sweet Potatoe is a Dicotyledon??? Well now you do!
and in case you are thirsty for a little more Thanksgiving knowledge, here's a link to the Plimoth Plantation website so you can learn where it all started.

May we all take a little time out of the day tomorrow and truely remember all that we have to be thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

He's a hack

I've never had one, and most golfers I know have never had one, but this guy had two...in one round! Talk about lucky. And being the good golfing buddies they are, his friend's are so congratulatory about it too.

World Series MVP

I'm still realing from the Red Sox victory! It's hard to believe that this really was the year!
I was at game 4 against the Yankees, the best baseball game I have ever seen in person, and being down 4-3 in the bottom of the ninth, it was difficult to fathom what lay ahead. But we all believed and low and behold, seven games later the Red Sox were crowned World Series Champions!!!
Thanks to a little job perk, I was fortunate enough to meet some of the players, including World Series MVP Manny Ramirez.

I also joined the millions of fans for the victory parade.
