Trap Falls and Steamed Dogs

Having the zipcar this past weekend, I ventured out to do a little leaf peeping on Sunday. The sun shone brightly on the brilliant fall day as I headed west on Rt. 2. A few elms and maples showed off their colors, but I think I was a wee bit early (or at least too far south for the first weekend in Oct.) to catch the true beauty that a New England autumn can offer up. Not having enough time to venture too far north, I pulled off Rt. 2 in Leominster and headed up Rt. 13 into the small town of Townsend, with Willard Brook State Forest being my destination. Although the leaves were all still green, I was rewarded when I stumbled upon Trap Falls. Not the largest waterfalls by any means, but a nice little oasis in the forest nonetheless. I took a few pictures, so check 'em out.
Cruisin' back toward Boston on Rt. 119, thinkin' it was about time I stop for lunch, I knew I found my calling when I saw the sign for "Larry's Steamed Dogs." I can't decide if the corn dog or the "farm dog" (hotdog with cheese and bacon!) was better, but they were both darn tasty. Having a full stomach, I zipped back into Boston in time to meet Kristen and Andy to go see Garden State. Highly recommend it. I'd say its the second best movie of the year, right after N.D.

Well that pretty much sums up my Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004.
